Mould treatment

Mould growth occurs when documents are stored in damp conditions or are exposed to moisture or dampness (e.g. after water damage).

Mould spores are constantly in the air everywhere and settle immediately when conditions are favourable for them. We provide:

  • Assessment of infested materials for extent and degree of damage
  • Carrying out ATP/AMP measurements
  • Salvaging, packing and removal of the objects
  • On request and in the case of vital mould: sterilisation with parameters specially set for archival and library materials (optionally with ethylene oxide or gamma rays)
  • Removal of mould spores under the microbiological workbench
  • Analysis of the condition of and damage to paper and bindings
  • Execution of necessary restoration work
  • Return transport and store in the stacks
